Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who created history as the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station (ISS).
Shukla, who participated in the Axiom-4 commercial mission from June 25 to July 15, visited the Prime Minister at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. Modi warmly received him, greeting him with a hug and walking alongside him affectionately with his arm on the astronaut’s shoulder.
A day earlier, Shukla—hailed as the second Indian to travel into space—was accorded a grand reception upon his arrival in Delhi. He was welcomed by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and senior ISRO officials.
