On India’s 79th Independence Day 2025 Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Red Fort after hoisting the national flag. During his speech, PM Modi spoke about India’s success during Operation Sindoor, farmers’ welfare and launched multiple schemes. One key announcement was the new GST reforms, set to kick in by Diwali and aimed at lowering the prices of daily-use commodities across the country. PM Modi also spoke about Mission Sudarshan Chakra, aimed at increasing safety and developing a more powerful weapons system for the nation’s security. In his
longest ever Independence speech from Red Fort extending to a duration of 103 minutes was also the longest speech delivered by any Prime Minister in India’s history. Modi, hailed the efforts of the armed forces during Operation Sindoor, and also gave a stern warning to Pakistan, saying that India will not give in to nuclear blackmail. Further, PM Modi launched a new scheme called Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgaar Yojana to promote employment.
PM Modi hinted at New Delhi’s resolve to reduce dependence on foreign technologies for military platforms as he called for the development of jet engines within the country for India’s fighter aircraft. PM said
India is moving ahead to become self-sufficient in critical minerals
and exploration campaigns are underway at more than 1,200 sites.
Critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, rare earth and graphite have diverse applications ranging from electronic chips and home appliances to electric vehicles Modi said India to launch demographic mission to check illegal ghuspaithiyas (infiltrators) who he said
are snatching the bread and butter of our youth and targeting our country’s daughters and sisters. This will not be tolerated. He said these ghuspaithiyas are befooling innocent tribals and capturing their lands.
Prime Minister said that Nuclear energy capacity will grow tenfold by 2047. He said work is underway on 10 new nuclear reactors as part of India’s mission to increase nuclear power generation capacity by over ten times in the next two decades.
