U.S. President Donald Trump, on Friday, presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a letter authored by First Lady Melania Trump, urging him to pursue peace for the sake of children. According to a report by Fox News, President Putin read the so-called “peace letter” immediately after receiving it from President Trump.
The letter, signed by the First Lady and not explicitly referencing Ukraine, highlighted the impact of conflict on children: “In today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them,” it states. Mrs. Trump appealed directly to Putin, writing, “Mr. Putin, you can single-handedly restore their melodic laughter.” She further emphasized that protecting children is an act that serves not only Russia but humanity at large: “In protecting these kids, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself.” The letter concludes by urging a bold step towards peace, stating, “Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with the stroke of a pen today. It is time.”
