Team India on Tuesday unveiled its 15-member squad for the Asia Cup, starting September 9 in the UAE. Test captain Shubman Gill has been appointed as vice-captain of the T20 side, while star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has also earned a recall.

Gill, who last featured in a T20 match against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in 2024, replaces Axar Patel as deputy to skipper Suryakumar Yadav. For Bumrah, this will mark his first T20 appearance since last year’s World Cup.

Among the other selections, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been drafted in, while Jitesh Sharma will serve as the back-up wicketkeeper-batter. Yashasvi Jaiswal is among five standby players named by the selectors.

India is slotted in Group A of the Asia Cup, alongside Pakistan, Oman, and hosts UAE.

India’s 15-member squad:
Suryakumar Yadav (capt), Shubman Gill (vc), Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Jitesh Sharma, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav.
